Visual Impacts: A Visual Resource Library
Books, 2023–24

Visual Impacts is a series of counter-geographic field guides on visibility and landscape. Each of the 24 books in the series is based on primary documents taken from sources such as the Bureau of Land Management, Energy Fuels Resources Corporation, Argonne National Laboratories, etc, which have been modified by the collective. The modified documents contain both applicable and abstract information and help the reader not only identify landscapes that are being managed for visual characteristics but also question the primacy of the visual experience of nature and how it may be exploited. Topics include assessing the visual landscape (Visual Resource Inventory), becoming invisible within the landscape (The Use of Color for Camouflage Concealment of Facilities), or speculating on the future appearance of the landscape (Evaluating Photo Simulations for Visual Impact Assessment).
